Given the fixtures’ reality and permutations by football pundits, two European power-house teams will certainly have their journey in the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League terminated at the round of 16 stage of the competition
Following Monday’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland, Real Madrid versus Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea against Barcelona tricky encounters indicate that any of these two known faces will be missing out of the quarter-finals round party going forward.
Added to these delicate ties is the showdown between Italian giants and last year’s runners-up, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur who emerged group winners ahead of defending champions, Real Madrid.
Here are the ties in full:
Juventus (Italy) vs *Tottenham Hotspur (England)
FC Basel (Switzerland) vs *Manchester City (England)
FC Porto (Portugal) vs *Liverpool FC (England)
Sevilla (Spain) vs *Manchester United (England)
Real Madrid (Spain) vs *Paris Saint-Germain (France)
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) vs *AS Roma (Italy)
Chelsea FC (England) vs *FC Barcelona (Spain)
Bayern Munich (Germany) vs *Besiktas (Turkey)
Note that *indicates group winners
The Group winners are away in the first legs of the round of 16 competition slated for February 13/14 and 20/21, 2018 and with the second legs holding on March 6/7 and 13/14, 2018 respectively.
