- To represent Nigeria at the London event

A 100-level Arts and Social Sciences Education student at the University of Ibadan (UI), Israel Bolarinwa, has won this year’s National Young Oratory Award.
Bolarinwa emerged victorious at the Young Orators National Public Speaking Competition grand finale held at the Townhouse Hotel, Iyaganku in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In a keenly contested final, Bolarinwa’s exceptional performance saw him defeat seven other contestants to cart home the prestigious award.
The organisers explained that the victory secures the Ibadan varsity’s freshman an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the International Public Speaking Competition taking place in London from May 12 to May 17, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Executive Director of Peat Phillips Foundation and the Programme Convener, Akinleye Olu-Phillips, said the competition aims to develop communication and leadership skills among the youth populace.
While describing the training camp as quite intensive and rewarding, the participants were full of praise for the National Coach, Oluwaseun Olamipo Dawodu, and his team, whose efforts saw them reach new heights in terms of excellence in public speaking and communication.
The award was sponsored by the Peat Phillips Foundation, in conjunction with the Office of the Youth Development Agency, led by Hon. Prince Adebowale Falana and Mr Victor Olojede, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Students Affairs.
This year’s competition brought together 15 exceptional young speakers from across Nigeria for a week-long camp filled with training, mentorship, and a vibrant exchange of ideas.
Also, the finalists were privileged to receive prominent Nigerians, including the esteemed Chief Dr. Ramata Agberemi Dabo (RAD), who generously gifted each contestant a monetary token in recognition of their efforts and participation at this year’s event.
Meanwhile, the organisers have appreciated Genesis Studios, noting that their steadfast support and creative partnership played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall experience of the event.
“Their dedication to youth development and excellence in media production added a unique and memorable dimension to this year’s competition”, the organisers said.
Additionally, the organisers said, “As The Young Orators continues to grow in impact and prestige, it remains a beacon of youth empowerment and national pride.”
