…As APC makes bold turn to PDP

BY JONATHAN ISHAKU

2014: APC forming blocs: CPC, ACN, ANPP and factions of APGA & DPP

2022: Not a single member of the above blocs made it to top Executive

All positions swept by the defecting PDP members, the APC was set up to sweep away.

Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, the newly (s)elected APC National Chairman, at that time of merger talks had just trounced Buhari’s apologee @ the CPC, Major General Ahmed Abdullahi Aboki (rtd), to emerge a Senator for Nasarawa NW zone!

But the irony is that while Senator Adamu was thrashing the CPC retired General, Buhari’s party, same CPC, won the governorship elections under, guess who?  Alhaji Al-Makura, who was rejected by APC at the Convention despite being its foundation member at the talks!

Another APC foundation member rejected at the Convention was Senator George Akume, who had switched to ACN and won a Senate seat in 2011.

Another scorned APC foundation member was Alhaji Abdulaziz Yero, who was then the Governor of Zamfara State having won in 2011 on the ticket of ANPP

Most sympathetic case perhaps is the case of the passionate Buharist of all time, Alhaji Turaki Samiu Muhammad. He joined the ANPP in 2009 purposely for Buhari’s Presidential bid. When later Buhari left for the CPC, he followed out of loyalty. He became the Deputy National Chairman of the CPC and chief negotiator at the APC merger talks. He was also rejected at the Convention in favor of the then serving PDP Senator from Nasarawa State.

To reinforce the powerful message coming out from the Convention, all other major positions in the new Executive are distributed among former PDP governors and Ministers

Summary: Two CPC, one ANPP, one ACN, constituting the core blocs of the APC have been rejected at APC Convention 2022

CONCLUSION(S): The PDP remains the party to beat. The change agenda has expired. Nigeria has only one ruling party: factions of PDP.

If 7000 APC delegates don’t trust any core APC bloc member for its party leadership, will Nigerians trust it with a President again?
