UNICAL Graduate Emerges Humanity Beauty Queen In Calabar
BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – A 21-year-old graduate of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Glory Tete Ephraim has emerged winner of the second edition of the Queen of Humanity Beauty Pageant held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Beautiful Glory shoved aside 17 other contestants to capture the crown in a keenly contested competition with the wife of Cross River State Governor, Bishop Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu as the driving force behind its success.
Queuing behind Glory was Deborah Eju Aki who emerged as the First Runner-up, while Ritemiquin Effenji Odey claimed the Second Runner-up position in the contest.
For her efforts, the winner took home the five million Naira star price and the Queen of Humanity crown for 2024. Glory also took home a brand new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) as part of the winning package, including a monthly salary spanning the duration of her reign.
On her part, the First Runner-up, Miss Aki got N3 million Naira; the Second Runner-up, Miss Ritermiquin Odey, received N1.3 million Naira while all other contestants got N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) each as consolation prizes.
Speaking at the occasion, Cross River First Lady, Bishop Dr Eyoanwan Otu said the Humanity Beauty pageant was initiated to honor and encourage the inherent potential of the Girl Child given the challenges involved in bringing up female children
According to her, the wisdom backing the project transcends beauty and brain as it is also a catalyst for a brighter future for the Girl Chil, especially in Cross River State.
She therefore tasked the new queen to champion a transformative agenda that would harness the potential of the girl child to positively impact society at all times..
In an Interview with Forefront News, former Queen of Humanity, Miss Margaret Ekpo lauded the First Lady for her bold initiative in pioneering and supporting such a laudable project which has provided a challenging platform for girls to express themselves and showcase their talents
Miss Ekpo said the knowledge garnered during her reign would shape her worldview as well as create confidence in the minds of young girls to the effect that life is a challenging venture that requires zeal and determination to not only succeed but also excel.
Mother of the new Queen of Humanity, Madam Nya Ani, amid tears of joy, appreciated God for His grace and benevolence, hinting that following her daughter’s enrollment for the beauty contest, she took the case to God in prayer and fasting, seeking divine intervention for Glory to be the source of favour to the family.
