Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, a known staunch supporter and political ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fingered as being the person that led thugs to disrupt a peaceful protest in Kano on Thursday during which some government properties, supermarkets and private residences were destroyed and properties carted away.

Some of the properties destroyed and vandalised on Thursday, by miscreants and thugs included the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) facility, Kano State High Court, Kano Scholarship Board, Kano State Printing Press, Supermarkets, Departmental Stores and private residences allegedly on the orders of Dan’agundi, who is also an identified supporter of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dan’agundi, a former House of Assembly member and Director in charge of Tunibu’s support groups in Northwest geo-political zone, who was recently appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Productivity Centre, was sighted in a viral video making utterances about his plans to create chaos in Kano.

Some concerned citizens of Kano noted that while the protesters gathered to protest against hunger and #badgovernance, Dan’agundi arrived with some hoodlums and disrupted the peaceful protest thereby led to chaos and violence.

The concerned citizens also castigated the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, accusing him of granting Dan’agundi permission to lead the protesters taking into consideration of the fact that the demonstration was directed against the federal government, adding that the decision of the police raised questions over the impartiality the police in handling public demonstrations in the State.

Ghali Aliyu Bala Dantata, spokesman of the concerned citizens in Kano, said it would be dangerous to allow Dan’agundi to go scot free and therefore called on the Amnesty International and other human right organizations to file for the prosecution of Baffa Dan’agundi as well as charge him for culpable homicide.

The concerned citizens also alleged that the same Dan’agundi said in a viral video that he was leading the protesters to the palace of Emir Aminu Bayero to lodge a complaint to be forwarded to President Tinubu.

An eye witness, Aminu Sabiu, also told Forefront News that on sighting Dan’agundi with the hoodlums that he allegedly led who masqueraded as part of the real protesters, there arose suspicious among the real peaceful protesters of his devious move with the believe that he was out to disrupt the peaceful protest.

The unfortunate destruction of properties and offices has attracted widespread condemnation from citizens, who noted that the actions of Dan’agundi-led group undermined the rights of the protesters to express themselves peacefully.

Bala Dantata condemned the involvement of a public servant in such destructive tendencies, adding that the singular action has further raised concerns about the integrity of the government and its officials.
