…Begins sensitization of Bauchi residents on intercontinental trading

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Determined to provide free trade for Nigerians and the rest of the world, the National Action Committee (NAC) on African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has said that it is working to take advantage of the country’s population size to ensure that Nigerians benefit from the trade with their neighbours.

In this wise, AfCFTA has commenced a sensitization programme with stakeholders in Bauchi state on the objectives and functions and the role of residents in meeting its agreement.

Secretary of NAC-AfCTFA, Francis Anatogu told journalists on Thursday that the stakeholders meeting was a foundation upon which the AfCFTA agreement will be built.

Anstogu said; “We’ve had a very good interactive session with stakeholders and it is an excellent foundation to build upon. We want to inform the public about this landmark agreement and the

representative of the Minister of Trade and Investment, Abubakar Aliyu noted that the Ministry is working with the Presidential Committee on the ease of doing business to ensure that the ongoing trade facilitation is geared towards making the programme successful.

“We are working with the presidential committee on ease of doing business across many areas including customs procedures in a way that will make the ongoing trade facilitation a success.”

In her address, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industries, Maryam Bagel said that the state will ensure that it key into the programme so that its exporters can maximally benefit from the programme.

Bagel added that the present administration is doing everything possible to make the state industry highbrow as all its programs are trade friendly which has attracted multinational investors to the state.
