We’ve Four COVID-19 Positive Cases, Not Six Announced By NCDC – Bauchi Govt. Declares

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Bauchi State Government on Thursday announced that it has so far four cases of people that have tested positive for the Coronavirus disease as against the eight (8) posted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on its website.

The State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela, who announced this while briefing journalists at the Government House Bauchi, said the State Task Force on COVID-19 has sent another three samples to NCDC for testing apart from the initial three index cases.

Tela said the results of the three second category of the cases were cleared not in order of gender adding that before concluding the matter, NDDC posted on its website that Bauchi has 6 cases.

The Deputy Governor said; “We are not arguing on the capacity of the NCDC, but we have an issue of communication gap between us especially in terms of gender and address of the result sent to us on the second three samples.

“We have sent the result for reevaluation, but to our surprise, it was posted on NDDC that all the three are positive.”

On the additional two cases reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the deputy governor said that the result was for the first 3rd index case sent to the center for re-testing not for a new case.

Tela announced that all the confirmed four cases in the state are under management and appealed for understanding between the government and the NCDC for clarification on issues.

The Deputy Governor announce a donation of personal protection equipment to the state government by the International Relief Organization.
