COVID-19: Plateau Senator, Gyang Distributes Food To Constituents

BY AHMED TUKUR. JOS – The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Istifanus Dung Gyang has distributed food items as palliatives to his constituents.

The gesture is part of measures aimed at alleviating the hardship caused by the government directive locking down the State to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic

This is as the lawmaker also said it has become necessary for people to strictly adhere to safety measures put in place to check the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Represented by his Special Adviser Hajiya Nafisatu Oma, at the designated distribution centre, along Tafawa Balewa Street, Jos North, Senator Gyang said the gesture was his little way of supporting the vulnerable and poor to cushion the adverse effect of the lockdown.

He told the people that; ”It is to let you know we share your pains and we truly care, particularly to those who had been vulnerable even before the pandemic broke out.

“In the course of my campaign, I promised to serve everyone irrespective of religious and tribe. After winning the election, by the grace of God, I have maintained my position to be a representative of everyone resident in this constituency and to this end, what we are doing today is for everybody.”

The lawmaker urged the people to be prayerful, patient and their brothers keepers in this trying times and even beyond, just as he urged the State and Federal Governmentd to provide some palliatives to ease the people’s suffering during this period

Similarly, he saidmust the people stay safe by following precautionary measures issued by government and health professionals to stop the spread of the virus.

Two of the beneficiaries, John Kefas and Ibrahim Lawal thanked the Senator for the kind gesture and call on other politicians to emulate the Senator in demonstrating the essence of good leadership and service to the people

Beneficiaries of the food and material items were mostly, widows, orphans, youths and the aged.
