What NCPC’s Mandate Entails – Bishop Adegbite Unveils
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite has said that the commission’s mandate is beyond pilgrimage as it also a platform to engender peace.
Adegbite, who stated this while playing host to the leadership of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), affirmed that the work of peace has no finishing line thus, enjoined every Nigerian particularly the youth to pursue peace at all cost so that the country would be better for it.
The NCPC boss explained that all Christians are one, adding that there is need to foster unity, bridge the gap and cement relationship with one another.
While thanking the leadership of the Youth wing of CAN for identifying with him over his appointment, Adegbite said that his office and appointment belong to the body of Christ, stressing that he would take NCPC from the level it is today to a higher pedestal.
He therefore admonished the youth to cash in on the opportunity of the lent to reach out to the less privileged in in the society, bearing in mind that the period of lent is for sober reflection, penitence and mercy.
He assured the YOWICAN members that the Commission would collaborate with them, especially in the area of youth pilgrimage, saying; “We are going to work together, and Nigeria will be better for all of us. Whatever we have, we are holding it in trust”.
Earlier, the National Chairman of YOWICAN, Mr Belusochukwu Enwere described Bishop Adegbite as a role model and mentor of many years standing, adding that he is a man who loves humanity.
Enwere than Adegbite for what he has done for YOWICAN and what he would still do for them in playing an effective advisory to the Association which has helped in moulding the members positively.
A statement by Celestine Toruka, Head, Media and Public Relations of the NCPC said that the visit was graced by some members of the Board of the Commission that included; Bishop Raphael Benjamin Nwankwo, the representative of CAN, Dr. Simon Dolly Federal Commissioner representing North Central as well as Chief Prince Weli Wosu, a Federal Commissioner representing South-South geo- political Zone.
