The whereabouts of the paramount ruler of Ikulu Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Agwom Akulu, Yohanna Kukah, who was abducted in his residence on Tuesday evening by gunmen, is still shrouded in mystery as his captors have remained incommunicado on why they are holding him captive.

According to a source privy to the saga, the captors of the monarch are yet to communicate their demands, thereby fueling anxieties among the people over the fate of their monarch.

“I can only inform you that apart from the police and other security personnel that later arrived the palace, not much have been achieved, as the captors are yet to explain why they are holding the paramount ruler, over 24 hours after they kidnapped him with one of his palace guards,” the source said.

National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Barrister Solomon K. Musa, disclosed that the union has reached out to the Kaduna State Police Commissioner and other military formations for intervention, but I am yet to be told of any breakthrough on the matter.

“We are hopeful that the monarch will be released by his captors. We are appealing to all well-meaning Nigerians and appealing to security agencies involved on the matter to assist resolve this saga so as to ensure the safe return of the Ikulu paramount ruler,” the SOKAPU leader said.

The abduction of the HRH Kukah came on the heels of the gruesome murder of the Entuma Numana Chief, Dr Gambo Makama, on December 31, 2017 by fierce gunmen who stormed his home in Ara village in Sanga and also killed his pregnant wife before setting his residence ablaze.

Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai of Kaduna has vowed to fish out Makama’s murderers, describing the murder of the monarch as an act of criminality against humanity.

However, not many believe that the Kaduna State Governor can walk his talk as he had in the past vowed to prosecute suspects linked to Southern Kaduna killings without any result.
