Why I Stayed Away From APC’s Presidential Primary Election – Nwajiuba

Former Minister of State for Education and one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Emeka Nwajiuba has said that he had no choice than to stay away from Eagle Square, venue of the Party’s special convention owing to betrayals and the scandalized manner in which the process was heavily monetized.

Nwajiuba, who spoke through his younger brother, Prof Chinedu Nwajiuba, explained that the understanding from the highest levels prior to his involvement, and considering his role in the founding of the APC, was that of consensus, same way as the National Chairmanship arrangement a few months ago.

Uwajiuba, considered as one of the key aspirants, was visibly absent at the convention for the election of the APC presidential flag bearer for the 2023 presidential.

He was called upon several times to go up the podium to address the delegates at the APC convention but he was not seen around.

Professor Chinedu Nwajiuba, who is the immediate past Vice chancellor of Federal University Ndufu Ebonyi State,  in a statement issued on Tuesday night, pointedly said that his elder brother was betrayed by the leadership of the party.

The statement reads: “Many friends are calling to find out why my brother, Dr Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, did not come out to address the APC convention.

“Simple: The understanding from the highest levels prior to his involvement, and considering his role in the founding of the APC, was that of consensus as was with the National Chairmanship a few months ago.

“With that understanding, the Presidential ticket was to come to the South, and the southeast.

“This has been the hope till the end of the negotiations. He, not wanting to be part of the Dollar and Naira bazaar, is convinced that what Nigeria needs now is no more of the same thing that has kept Nigeria at the low level it has been.

“Our challenges as a country cannot be addressed at the same energy level by which they were created

“God order our footsteps towards a better life for all Nigerians. God bless you,” he concluded.
