Why We Shutdown FGC Kwali – Education Minister

BY TEMITOPE MUSTAPHA, ABUJA – The Federal Ministry of Education on Monday gave reasons why it ordered the immediate closure of one of its colleges, Federal Government College, Kwali in the Federal Capital Territory, saying that the sudden development followed a security breach.
Minister of Education, AdamuAdamu, who stated this, said that the security breach took place in Sheda and Lambata villages which are suburbs of Kwali Area Council, adding that such a development seriously threatened Federal Government College, Kwali.
Adamu said he had to quickly give directive for the immediate closure of the College in the early hours of Monday owing to the security threats.
The Minister said that the timely intervention of security Agencies saved the situation in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
Adamu further directed that arrangements should be made for final year students to conclude their NECO examinations.
The Minister also directed Principals of Unity Colleges across the country to liaise with security Agencies within their jurisdictions in order to forestall any security breach in the schools.
