Wike Dances In Circle, Says; ‘I Never Said I Would Publicly Announce My Preferred Presidential Candidate’
In what appeared like dancing in circle, Rivers State Governor. Nyesom Wike on Wednesday recanted his earlier statement that he would unveiled and announce his preferred presidential candidate in January 2023.
Nigerians had waited in vain in the month of January 2023 for Governor Wike to announce his preferred presidential candidate outside his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) based on his promise but failed to accomplish his promise.
The PDP, it was gathered was waiting for him to dare declare his support for a presidential candidate of another party to enable it suspend him and his supporters from the party for anti-party activity in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the party.

Former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 urged Wike to name his presidential candidate as he earlier promised.
But, Wike while responding to the challenge thrown at him by Peterside, declared that he never said that he would announce it publicly.
In his words; “I never told the public the method by which I would disclose my choice. I never told anybody one day, I will bring a camera and announce to you this is who will go. I said I will tell Rivers people the candidate they will support. I did not tell you the method of saying it. I did not tell you I will bring live coverage and say it. But Rivers people know”.
Responding directly to Peterside’s challenge at the Rivers State PDP campaign in Port Harcourt, Wike in his usual characteristics of attacking and hitting back at anyone that dares him, said that he is not at the same level with the APC chieftain.
In the words of Wike; “You have the guts to tell me I should name my presidential candidate. Are we at the same level? Failure and success, are they the same? Look at the man who is always failing every day.
“He does not understand the activities of G-5. I have told most people who don’t know G-5 that what we are fighting is like guerilla warfare. The more you look, the less you see.
“Look at this small boy whom I flogged in 2015. I don’t know where they say he comes from – is it Abia or Opobo side, which of the areas? Envy! I flogged him out in 2015. He has not recovered from that. He thought they would give him a ticket in 2019, but he didn’t get it. They sent him to be NIMASA. Ask him, what did he bring for Rivers people?
“You have a position, you cannot help your people, and you’re coming out to open your mouth, simply because you didn’t get the ticket and they did not give you a second term to be DG of NIMASA,” Wike said.
