Taraba APC: Supreme Court Nails Senator Bwacha’s Governorship Ambition

The supreme court on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, nailed the gubernatorial aspiration of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha by nullifying his nomination as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Taraba state.

The judgement of the Supreme Court followed a suit instituted by one of the APC governorship aspirants in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente against Bwacha’s candidature.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex Court affirmed the judgement of a Federal High Court, in Jalingo, which held that the APC did not conduct any valid governorship primary in Taraba State.

A Federal High Court in Jalingo, Taraba state, had on September 20, 2022 sacked Bwacha as the APC’s governorship candidate.
