Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory ((FCT), has accused Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Territory of unethical, illegal and immoral conduct by allegedly reducing his son’s Land Title fee from N200 million to N2 million within 48 hours.

Senator Kingibe said the same Wike, who initially denied ever allocating any plot of land to his son, only turned around later to argue that his son is a Nigerian and entitled to land in the FCT, alleging that the Minister has also further slashed his son’s land title bill from N200 million to N2 million while forcing other Nigerians to pay prohibitive bills.

The Senator said it was illegal, unethical and totally unfair of Wike to so abuse the powers of his office in the administration of land allocation in Abuja.

Senator Kingibe, who stated these when she featured on Arise TV News programme ‘Prime Time’, noted that it was worrisome that Wike did not only give his son questionable land allocation, but illegally slashed the associated payment from over ₦200 million to just ₦2 million.

In the words of Senator Kingibe; “This is not only unethical and potentially illegal, it is clear abuse of office. I have documents to support what I am saying”.

She noted that Wike has so much disregard for legal processes and transparency, adding that she plans to present the documents at her disposal to the relevant legislative oversight bodies to demand accountability.

“There is so much lack of financial transparency under Wike’s leadership, especially with regard to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and spending from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“How are the funds of the FCT spent? Wike does not provide the National Assembly with adequate financial details,” she said.

Senator Kingibe also raised concern over a black SUV that allegedly followed her from Abuja airport recently, suggesting that it was a possible surveillance or intimidation, adding however, that she remains undeterred in performing her legislative duties.

She stressed that her role as a lawmaker representing the good people of the FCT, includes speaking out against actions that are wrong.

The Lawmaker stressed the need for stronger oversight of Wike’s activities, saying that she would not remain silent in the face of impunity being carried out by the FCT Minister, stressing that any public official deriving power from the President, must operate with accountability to the National Assembly.
