You Remain Suspended From APC, el-Rufai Tells Shehu Sani
Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai on Friday declared that Senator Shehu Sani remained suspended as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over what he described as “act of sabotage” against the party in the state.
For Sani to be forgiven, the governor insisted, he must apologize to people of the state for him to receive any form of redemption, adding, “He has to repent; he has to tell Kaduna people why he sabotaged them.
“He has to also go back to the ward level, because as far as we are concerned he remains suspended from the party”.
The governor recalled on Senator Sani, in collaboration with Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and Danjuma La’ah, opposed the $350m World Bank loan request that was rejected on the floor of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Following the defection of no fewer than 14 senators from APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sani had justified why he refused to join the group of defectors. Speaking after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa in Abuja, Sani said, “I am here as a member of the APC caucus in the Senate. My presence here does not mean that my issue has been resolved 100 percent but I am of the belief that we have a leader in the party who is doing everything possible to see that the problems that we have that led to a revolt are resolved.
“Revolt at times is most necessary. In fact, APC itself is a reflection of revolt, he said Wednesday night after a caucus meeting with the president.
” It revolted against the system of iniquity, and today it is in power. I am here because I believe in the leadership of the party. I believe also in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. I also believe there are no issues that we cannot solve as human being, as men of conscience. I believe that the discussions we have had here is reassuring, soothing and comforting that a process has started to heal the wounds and address issues that led us to where we are today.”
