Youth Group Set To Redeem Nigeria
BY EMMANUEL EKO, ABUJA – A youth movement on the platform of #Youthdecide2019, is set to utilize youth leaders, magnates and professionals as apparatus towards changing the leadership narratives of Nigeria, ahead of the 2019 elections.
In a chat with the Convener, Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa, fondly known as CEO, the idea of establishing this noble movement came about, after cross examining the Nigerian States’ status right from Independence that is from astonishment to surprise and now misperception.
According to him, “Should Nigeria continue this way? What are the implications for the future generations? Let’s save Nigeria, so our children could have a country they can call home”.
Stressing further, he said Nigerians must see access to good leadership as a right and not a privilege; rights are relevant when it is exercised. Hence, the right to decide good leadership at all levels can only come to significance when citizens are committed to not only making their votes count, but equally to count their votes.
Part of its mission, according to the convener, is to ensure that only credible individuals get into leadership positions in Nigeria by 2019 and to mobilize 37 million young leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals from the 36
states and FCT who shall change the Nigerian leadership narrative with their voters cards.
Speaking on its objectives, Okenwa said that the movement is aimed at fostering a renewed interest of young people in promoting good governance through politics and consequently mobilize them to get
their voters cards in order to create a platform where prospective political leaders can be engaged in form of debates and critical evaluation of intents and antecedents, a platform for young professionals to promote
youth inclusiveness by visibly reflecting a critical mass of young professionals with capacity to encourage the participation of credible Nigerians in vying for political positions to educate young Nigerians on the role of citizenship indulgence in creating accountable leadership and creating a network of professionals.
