A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Aminu Waziri Tamuwal of Sokoto State has joined his Ondo State counterpart in urging President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of national interest, sack the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

Tambuwal noted that it is ironical and sad to see a sitting Governor of the CBN, who ought to be apolitical, openly and flagrantly identifying with a political party, stressing that the continuous stay in office by Emefiele is too dangerous a situation for the country.

In the words of Tabuwal: “We can now see why the galloping inflation and week exchange rate of the Naira are beyond control as Emefiele has completely abdicated his core and primary responsibility for politics while still sitting as the governor of the CBN. It I really ironic”.

The presidential aspirant who stated these in Jalingo shortly after meeting with PDP delegates ahead of the presidential primaries of the party, assured that he will respect a consensus arrangement of the party for the presidential slot if carried out fairly.

While appreciating the Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku for holding the PDP’s flag high with the provision of massive infrastructure and maintaining relative peace in the state, Tambuwal said that he was overwhelmed by the warm reception.

He expressed confidence that the PDP delegates in Taraba State would give him their overwhelming support.

In his own remarks, Governor Ishaku urged politicians to play the game by the rules to avoid a total breakdown of law and order across the country.

He noted that Nigeria seriously needs a competent leader who would harness the abundant resources of the nation and ensure the security of the lives and properties of the people.

Ishaku said that given the rich endowment the country is blessed with, a serious president should create massive wealth for the country outside crude oil.
