2023: Katung Wins Kaduna South PDP Senatorial Ticket

The former member representing Zango-Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Sunday Marshall Katung, on Tuesday emerged victorious in securing the ticket of the Kaduna South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ticket.
Announcing the result, the returning officer, Sabo Babayaro, said the former lawmaker polled 112 votes to beat the incumbent Senator Danjuma La’ah who scored 74 votes. The member representing Jema’a/Sanga, Hon. Nicholas Garba, came third with 52 votes
A member of the Kaduna House of Assembly, Samson Monday Dikko, polled 21 votes, while a former member representing Kachia-Kagarko in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba, trailed behind with 7 votes.  Barrister Mark Jacob and Mr. Suleiman Dauke had zero votes.
The primary election was held at the Kafanchan township stadium, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area.
Our correspondent who observed the election reported that the exercise was conducted in a serene environment devoid of rancour.
