BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Stakeholders under the auspices of Nasarawa Integrity Forum for Change Initiative in Nasarawa State have called for the zoning of the Nasarawa west senatorial seat to Nasarawa-Toto axis in the 2023 general elections.

The seat is presently occupied by Senator Abdullahi Adamu from Keffi, Kokona and Karu axis of the zone.

The group led by Ibrahim Waziri, who is former member of Senator Abubakar Sodangii campaign organization, said that since Senator Adamu has spent 12 years in the senate, the seat should be returned to Nasarawa Toto axis for fairness and brotherhood.

Speaking when he led a delegation to endorse Barrister Labaran Magaji in Abuja, Waziri said that the zone will witness more political understanding and development if the spirit of give and take is maintained in the area.

According to him; “Senator Sodangi from Nasarawa –Toto axis did 12 years and now Adamu has done 12 years also. It is only wise to maintain the gentleman agreement”.

He said the zone will continue to witness peace and harmony if the gentleman agreements are maintained.

Also speaking, John Raphael from Karu, said that the people of the zone have resolved to ensure continuity with the agreement of zoning between the two federal constituencies that make up the zone and therefore called on the people of the area most especially politicians, to abide by the rules of the game to ensure even participation and development.

The zone has five Local Government Areas with two units of federal constituencies namely Nasarawa Toto and Keffi, Kokona and Karu federal constituencies.

The group also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for ensuring peace within the state by carrying everybody along in the state irrespective of party or political affiliation.

Responding, Magaji appealed to members of the group not to indulge in campaign of calumny but should ensure that they carry everybody along in their discussion, adding that everybody is eligible to contest and cannot be deprived of his legitimate right as a Nigerian.

Magaji said he is still consulting and would make his decision public soon.
