Violence: APC Primary In Gbajabiamila’s LGA, Others May Be Canceled
Following noticeable violence unleashed on some party members by the supporters of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is considering wielding the big stick.
Information pieced together by Forefront News indicate that the leadership of the party in the State may cancel the results of the party’s primary election in Surulere Local Government Area.
Other areas likely to be affected with cancellation of the party primaries include Ikorodu and Badagry Local Government Areas over reports of uncontrolled violence. Surulere where two people reportedly lost their lives following high levels of violence that erupted is the Local Government of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
It was gathered that the party leadership in Lagos is disturbed that apart from the incidences of violence recorded in the area, it is more concerned with the doctoring of results and refusal to allow registered members of the party from participating in the party primaries.
According to a source close to the party; “The primaries in Surulere was completely out of the way. Such cannot be allowed to hold. It was the worst. It was quite disturbing that a powerful politician brought in hoodlums from neighbouring communities.
“The result is what we saw on Saturday. The state executive members are looking at the complaints, especially in the three council. I want to say that those results will be cancelled.”
Spokesman of the APC in Lagos, Mr Seye Oladejo had in a statement on Sunday, said the party appealed to security agents to investigate the violence and prosecute the culprits.
He said; “We wish to admonish the security agencies to conduct thorough investigations to bring the culprits to book and maintain law and order.
“We wish to reiterate that hoodlums, cultists and other outlaws are not members of our party and will not be tolerated,” he stressed.
