2023: Youths Should Champion Providing Exemplary Leadership In Nigeria – IVLP
Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, youths in the country have been challenged to be champions in providing the needed exemplary leadership in the country.
This was just as they were called upon to take interest by participating in the electoral process towards shaping the direction for the country.
Speakers at the Martin Luther King Day Youth and Leadership Programme of the US-Nigeria Educational and Cultural Leadership Program IVLP Alumni Association held in Abuja, said it is time for the youths to take their rightful position in the affairs of the country.
Guest Speaker at the Forum and former editor of the Guardian on Sunday, Ambassador Fred Ohwahwa called on Nigerians to emulate the virtues of the late civil rights advocate, Martin Luther King in promoting peace and unity in our political system.
In her own speech, the President of the Association, Hajiya Raheemat Momodu said the one day symposium is aimed at enlightening the Damagaza community on the need to take more interest in leadership hence the theme; “leadership is personal, it starts with me”.
Momodu assured that the Alumni will continue to play an active role in bringing about the desired change for a better Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Chief of Damagaza Community, James Budebo commended the Alumni for organising the awareness campaign in his domain and urged every Nigerian to take responsibility in the affairs of the country.
Similarly, the General Secretary of the Association, Mrs Ngozi John Uyah said the US – Nigeria Educational and Cultural Leadership Program Alumni Association (IVLP) is made up of professionals and business persons who had participated in the US government exchange program where the participants visited the United States.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Evelyn Onyilo said that the program funded by the US government is to identify, recognise and develop leaders for national and international development.
