2027 Poll: Social Media Awash With Ganduje, Uzodimma Presidential Posters
- It’s laughable, mischief of the highest order – Ganduje
In what the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has described as “mischief of the highest order”, the social media is currently awash with posters promoting his 2027 Presidential ambition.
With over two years remaining for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to open up the space for the 2027 general elections, posters of the former Kano State State governor and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, have surfaced in the media space speculating a possible joint presidential ticket for both of them.
By the inscriptions on the posters, the APC chairman is being promoted to vie for the presidential seat with Uzodinma who currently holds sway as Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), is touted as his running mate.
Canvassing support for the duo as “The Winning Team 2027”, the posters have the catchphrase, “For Nigerians, prosperity and human capital development“.
The write-ups further indicate that the pair will be throwing their hats into the ring seeking endorsement to fly the APC flag come the 2027 presidential election.
Interestingly, this development is against the backdrop of an alleged internal scheming to send Ganduje packing as the Party’s National chairman in exchange for an ambassadorial slot.
Though the APC National Working Committee (NWC) has debunked the claims as false, insider sources hinted that political manipulations have already commenced with certain actors already working ahead to robustly position themselves for relevance.
The insiders claimed that the President is quite aware of the intrigues and activities of the ‘hawks’ around him even as his interest in seeking re-election for a second term come 2027 has never been in doubt going by the body language, actions and comments by some cabinet Ministers as well as most political appointees and top government officials.
Also, it is on record that the APC National Chairman has consistently maintained, even in some of his public outings, that President Tinubu would seek and win a second term, a development that makes political commentators to dismiss the purported presidential ambition as “ridiculous and absurd”.
Meanwhile, reacting to the posters’ emergence in Abuja and some northern states, Dr Ganduje described the happenings as handiwork of mischief makers and fifth columnists.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Edwin Olofu, the APC National Chairman, said; “It is laughable, childish and mischief of the highest order.”
Olofu said in a telephone chat that; “It’s handiwork of fifth columnists, the same elements who are bent on removing him (Ganduje) as national chairman of the party from day one.”
According to him; “This is a deliberate act to cause disaffection between him and his brother and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“But they should desist from making further mischief because President Tinubu will not buy into this cheap blackmail.”
