Adamawa: Comply Or Risk Sanctions, DPR Tells Petroleum Marketers
BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – A week after President Muhammadu Buhari approved the reduction of pump price of Premium Motor Sprit (PMS) from N 125 to between N121.5 and N123.5, most fuel stations in Yola metropolis are yet to adjust to the new pump price as this morning today.
Our correspondent in Yola, who went out to monitor the compliance reports that as at weekend, only few stations had adjusted their pumps to the between N120 to N123.50 as directed by the Federal government, while NNPC mega station had not as at last weekend.
In MRS and Jersco Filling stations, located along Numan Road in Yola, pump attenders were seen Dispensing petrol at N120 per litre.
While at the outskirt of the town, the few fuel stations that had the product dispensed at the old price of N125:00 per liter, one of the fuel attendants, who pleaded not to be mentioned, said they are still waiting for their pump engineers to come and adjust the machine.
When contacted on this development, the Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources, Adamawa state, Mr. Sadiq Ibrahim said, “l got a directive only last Friday after close of work, but the head of operations and went out on inspection to see the level of compliance and to advise them to change to the new price”
According to him, “We inspected sixteen fuel stations within the metropolis, eight were selling at N120 while the other eight sold at the maximum price of N23.5”
We also observed that some had not adjusted at all, but because we had not gotten the directive then, we could not effect the penalty for noncompliance.
However, like you can see today, we can out with to witness the inspection, this Fuel station we are now, as at Friday, was selling at the old price, we advised the manger to comply and today without notice that we are coming, they took to the advice.

The DPR boss in Adamawa added that, the success recorded in the first price reduction of fuel was as result of consultation we have been having with stakeholders in the state, we will continue to do this to service the state better.
He called on fuel station owners to comply with the directive of new pump price to avoid the penalty, stressing that they will not spare any fuel station that sells above the newly approved approved price.
