Akpabio Abused Women When He Was Governor – Atiku Alleges
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of abusing women while serving as the governor of Akwa Ibom.
Atiku, who made the allegation against the backdrop of the sexual harassment allegation leveled against Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, pointedly said that Akpabio has a history of abusing women
Atiku, who stated these in an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie on the program ‘Untold Stories”, also said that Akpabio was also corrupt as a governor.
Speaking on his ambition for 2027 elections, Atiku said that Nigeria has never been in greater need of credible leadership than now, saying that he is currently not sure on if he will run or not for the office of president.
He however did not dismiss the possibility of running again in the 2027 election.
This is coming after his recent announcement of the formation of a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 election.
Speculations are rife with regards to the leadership of the coalition and its potential presidential candidate, with names of Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai being mentioned.
Atiku said: “I don’t know because there has to be, first of all, a viable platform, more than any other time in the political history of this country, particularly since the return of democracy.”
He said; “In 2014, we had a similar merger with several candidates contesting. We all ran for president and one emerged, and we all supported him.
Commenting on the speed with which the National Assembly approved the State of Emergency on Rivers State declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku said has was not in any surprised owing to corruption.
In his words; “No, the leadership is corrupt, and I have no apologies for saying that. They could do anything. The Senate President is known for such behaviour, even as a governor”.
