Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, on Monday appealed to resident doctors who are on a three-day warning strike to give the Federal Government a little time to address their grievances.
In a statement, the minister assured the doctors of the Federal Government’s commitment to address all the issues in contention, just as he pleaded for more time to enable the government puts its act together on all the issues at stake
“Another round of meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and it is hoped that more progress would have been made in reaching a consensus on all the issues being discussed,” the statement added.
He expressed the determination of the Buhari administration to promote industrial harmony in the health sector.
The industrial action embarked upon by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has been mired in controversy, as the doctors and the Ministry of Health gave different accounts on the actual cause of the strike called by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
