BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – Amid the crisis rocking Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state over recent killings in the area, troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army have reportedly neutralized three Bandits.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyea Nwachukwu said the troops, deployed by the Nigerian Army to quell the crisis on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, “obliterated the criminals when they gallantly fought through an ambush staged by the bandits while responding to a distress call in Mangu general area.”
According to a statement issued by Army Spokesperson; “After successfully clearing the ambush, the troops recovered 3 x AK 47 Rifles,14 rounds of 7.62 mm Special rounds, 1 x Motorcycle, and a Constabulary Police Identity card.”
The statement further disclosed that the “Troops are currently on the trail of bandits who escaped with gunshot wounds during the firefight.”
In the last five months, Plateau state has been in the news for the wrong reasons due to the incessant killings of innocent citizens across the state.
Unofficial reports put the tally of fatalities at over 201 persons who have lost their lives on the Plateau due to reported banditry and terrorists’ attacks.
