BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Chairman of the Governorship Election Committee, Action Democratic Party (ADP) for Anambra state, Senator Roland Owie, has called on the people to massively vote for the Party’s candidate, Mr Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo in the November 18, 2017 governorship election.
Owie, Chief Whip in the 4th Senate, assured the people that ADP would devolve powers to local government councils and called on all persons, who have attained the voting age in the state but are yet to register, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to do so.
He also said; “By the grace of God, ADP-led government in the state will, as a party policy, devolve powers from the state to local council, town development associations and traditional rulers. This will reduce concentration of powers at the state level and also reduce corruption.”
He further said that ADP government would re-work the Anambra Town Development Authority Bye Laws, affecting Centres like Nnewi, Onitsha, Ogidi, Aguata, Ihiala, Ogbaru, Otuo-Ocha, Aguleri, Umunze, among others, in order to enable them access at least 20 percent of the state capital votes for maintenance and retention of such indigenous communities overrun by urbanisation.
Owie urged the people to trust ADP to deliver on its campaign promises, adding that the people should show readiness for progressive and people-oriented change by registering to vote and actually trooping out en-mass to cast their votes for Mr Okonkwo in the forthcoming governorship election.
