BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Anambra State Police Command on Thursday said following actionable intelligence, its operatives raided a printing press in Onitsha and recovered thousands of printed pamphlets by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) meant to cause panic and public disturbance in the state.
Accordingly, two suspects namely, Udeagha Ebube Chukwu (male), aged 27 years of Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State and Elochukwu Okoloji (male), aged 37 years of Alor Town also in Idemili South have been arrested in connection with the offence.
A statement issued by Commissioner of Police. CP Garba Baba Umar said IPOB members were planning to distribute the offensive pamphlets with a view to cause apprehension and prevent people from exercising their franchise during the Anambra State Governorship election slated for November 18, 2017.
The Command urged members of the Public to ignore any form of propaganda and false alarm by misguided elements that seek to cause fear and breach of public peace in the State.
CP Umar assured law abiding citizens in the State that the Nigeria Police will not relent in its efforts towards ensuring safe and secured environment before, during and after the election.
