BY WILLIAM ATTAH, GOMBE – Determined to organise a rancour-free exercise, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State adopted the consensus arrangement for its Local Government congresses in the State.
Forefront gathered in Gombe, the State capital that all the 11 Local Government Areas strictly adhered to the arrangement as endorsed by APC stakeholders in a meeting held to chart the way forward for the ruling party.
The exercise was held peacefully and orderly at Idi Primary School, Gombe where Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya participated in the Congress for Gombe Local Government Council.
Governor Yahaya expressed optimism that the new executives would work for the party’s victory in the next general election come 2023.
According to him; “At the party level, we are ready for anyone, we do not fear anybody because we are sure of victory.
“Let the whole world know that we are in charge. I want to assure our supporters that very soon, APC will be having 100 per cent representation from the grassroots to the top.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Gombe State Congress Committee, Dr Danjuma Dabo, said the exercise commenced with the inauguration of elected Ward Executives and was followed by an affirmation of the Local Government executives.
He explained that the exercise was conducted simultaneously across the 11 Local Government Areas of the State in accordance with APC guidelines.
“The exercise was conducted in accordance with guidelines of the party. I do not want to hear anything contrary because we have agreed to adopt the consensus method,” he told reporters
At the time of filing this report, Shongom, Gombe, and Balanga Local Government Areas had completed the exercise with new executives already in place for the respective Local Government Areas.
