…Says, appointment of ex-Naval Chief as administrator is recipe for anarchy

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and former Minister of Agriculture in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has said that replacing suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara with a former Service Chief is sending a wrong signal that Nigerians still desire military rule.

He stressed that the rush and or use of declaration of state of emergency is something that should be avoided as much as possible, stressing that it is a very dangerous trend owing to the fact that it was definitely not going to be always fair and just.

Chief Ogbeh, who stated these on Saturday, March 29, 2025, when he featured on Channels Television programme; “Politics Today”, pointedly said that it was most unfair for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend Governor Fubara and retain the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, since both were the main actors in the political crisis in Rivers State.

He declared that the decision of President Tinubu should not in any way supersede and or overrule that of the people that voted the governor, stressing that emergency rule should be avoided at all cost as it is a dangerous trend that must be avoided.

Ogbe, who was National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that there should have been a reconciliation committee to address and iron out the matter as against rushing to declare a State of Emergency in Rivers State.

In the words of Ogbeh; “I must say that the decision of the President should not overrule the vote of the people who made that individual governor. The people of Rivers voted for somebody.

“I suggest that a reconciliation committee should be set up as soon as possible. And, that in the future, when such a situation arises, these individuals who are the warring factions should be brought before senior citizens of the state and told the plain truth,” Ogbeh said.
