BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The All Progress Congress (APC), Ward Congresses slated for Saturday, May 5, 2018 failed to hold in most parts of Kaduna Central Senatorial District as initially planned.

In Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Chickun and Kajuru local government areas in the Central Senatorial District of the State, Forefront findings indicate that only few party supporters and electorate were seen milling around the primary schools and the various party offices.

According to some APC ward chairmen in Igabi Local government area, no congress took place because officials from the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) never showed up for the exercise as expected.

Our correspondent reported that congress only took place in Rigachukun ward while there was no show in areas like Kwarau, Turunku, Igabi, Fanshanu, Gwaraji, Zango Aya, Riga chukun, Afaka, Kirawa, Birnin Yero, Rigassa and Sabon Birni wards.

Mallam Umar Rigachukun, Chairman of APC in the ward, said a winner emerged with 25 votes beating his closest opponent, who got 14 votes.

However, the story was different for Nafiu Musa – APC Chairman Igabi Ward;  Ayuba Shehu – Turunku Ward; Hussaini Idris – Fan-shanu Ward: Umar Chedi – Gwaraji Ward; and Zubairu Yahaya –  Zango Aya Wards who all complained that the planned congresses failed to hold in the respective wards as earlier scheduled.

They lamented that there was no information from the State APC officials on why the congresses could not hold in these areas.

In the same vein, there was no official on hand to explain why the congresses did not hold in all the 12 Wards in Kaduna North and the 13 Wards in Kaduna South Local government areas.

Similarly, Kajuru and Chikun local government areas with 22 wards also witnessed a no show as the congresses failed to take place as scheduled.

In all wards where congress did not take place, no security agents were seen as residents went about their normal businesses peacefully.

The State APC chairman, Alhjai Shuaibu Idris and the Acting State Secretary, Baba Pate, could not be reached for comments as all the phone calls put across to him neither did not go through.
