  • Uzodimma becomes Treasurer

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – In a decisive move to reflect zoning considerations in its composition, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reconstituted the leadership of its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, with former Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, emerging as the new chairman.

Accordingly, the ruling party has now re-designated Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, earlier named to lead the committee, as the treasurer while the Committee’s membership has been expanded from 73 to 90 members in a move aimed at accommodating more party stakeholders.

The list has former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim as Vice Chairman 1 with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State as Vice Chairman 11 and while Mai Mala Buni, Yobe governor, will serve as secretary.

As expected, the committee also includes serving and former governors, senators, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders drawn from across the country. Also listed as members are Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the APC; and Abdullahi Ganduje, former Kano governor.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the ruling Party said, “Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”

The ruling Party explained that the changes were part of a revised composition of the 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee after extensive consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders.

Additionally, it said the reconstitution was carried out to reflect not only zoning considerations but also other strategic exigencies ahead of the planned national convention.
