Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has said that if the Nigerian Army cannot take over Baga which is less than five kilometers from their base from Boko Haram terrorists, Nigeria can as well forget about Baga.

Governor Zulum, who stated this while speaking with the Army Commander, wondered why his convoy was attacked by the same Boko Haram terrorists that the military told Nigerians have been wiped out of the area.

The governor’s convoy was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists that laid ambush on the way from Baga where he (Zulum) had gone to distribute food to Internally Displace persons (IDPs) on Wednesday night.

Baga town is considered as one of the most difficult areas to reach for humanitarian activities.

It was gathered even though the attack was repelled by security operatives attached to the governor who were on his convoy, there were however some casualties in the entourage.

A sad Governor Zulum, while speaking with the Commanding Officer at Mile 4, expressed disappointment at the inability of the military to rid Baga and environs of insurgents while telling Nigerians that there are no terrorists in the area.

Zulum said; “The Army has been here for over one year now. There are 1,181 soldiers here. If you cannot take over Baga which is less than five kilometers from your base, then we should forget about Baga”.
