…Two persons Killed While 16 Injured Boko Haram terrorists on Thursday fired mortars into Maiduguri, the Borno State capital as Muslim faithful were making preparations for tomorrow’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
It was gathered that the deadly mortar killed at least two persons while i6 others were fatally injured from the deadly attack.
This was as it was gathered that the loud explosions sent many of the residents scampering for safety as it caught many by surprise. It was further gathered that the mortars were rocketed at innocent civilians in Gwange, Customs Area near Mansur Motors, and Marri, all within Maiduguri metropolis. The Explosive Ordinance Detection (EOD) unit of the Police has already moved to the areas to investigate the incidents and to determine whether it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The Commissioner of Police for Borno State, Mohammed Aliyu said the actual cause of the explosions was yet to be ascertained saying that Police teams had been dispatched to the areas. Members of Security and Response agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Army, Police, Rapid Response Squad, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have also moved to the scene to restore normalcy.
