Bandits again stormed Fesken Rafi community in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State killing no fewer than 20 people after a deadly attack.
The development has prompted renewed concerns and agitations over insecurity in the area.
This was as the Kebbi State Government expressed serious concern over the incident which it described as “tragic and devastating”.
Deputy Governor of the State, Mr Umar Tafida, who led a delegation on a condolence visit on Saturday, June 13, 2026, extended the condolence of the government to the people of the community and assured residents that the administration remains committed to tackling insecurity and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Tafida also assured the community that additional security personnel and operational resources would be deployed to the area to strengthen security operations, restore normalcy and prevent further attacks.
In the words of Tafida; “We share in your grief and remain committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Kebbi State”.
While briefing the government delegation, the Chairman of Arewa Local Government Area, Sani Tela, said that the attack took place a few days ago which resulted in significant loss of lives.
Tela commended the Governor Nasir Idris-led administration for its committed efforts towards combating insecurity in the state.
Also briefing the delegation, the member representing Arewa Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon Nuradeen Kangiwa commended Governor Nasir Idris for the needed response to the plight of affected communities.
In the same vein, traditional rulers including the Dikkon Kabi, Alhaji Kabiru Sulaiman, who represented the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, and the District Head of Bui, Alhaji Abubakar Dan-Malam, commended the prompt intervention by the government.
The traditional rulers requested for the construction of a road linking Fesken Rafi to the main highway, stressing that improved access would certainly enhance and facilitate quicker response, facilitate economic activities and improve the living conditions of residents.
