Barbaric: Ritualists Kill, Remove 11 Years-old Almajiri’s Brain In Bauchi

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Bauchi State Police Command is currently haunting down some unidentified assailants for killing an 11-year-old Almajiri identified as Yunus in Bauchi.

According to the Command, the attackers, suspected to be ritualists, committed the barbaric act by smashing the Almajiri’s skull and removing his brain for possible ritual purposes.

In confirming the incident, the Police Command said the incident took place at a dark area along Kofar Wambai area in Bauchi metropolis, saying that reports indicated that a yet to be identified man had called two Almajiri pupils who were begging for alms and lured them into a corner pretending that he will give them something.

However, still in shock, one of the boys, who luckily escaped from the assailants, told the residents of the area about their nightmarish encounter and on getting to the incident spot, the dead body of the pupil was discovered and they had to immediately alert the Police.

Bauchi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Muhammad Ahmad Wakil said; “Police received a distress call from a good Samaritan that unknown persons have used a stone and broke the skull of an Almajiri Pupils.

“The two Quranic School pupils are Muhd Yunusa 11 years and Aminu Yusuf 12 years old. They were deceived by unknown persons, who used a stone to break the skull of Yunus and escaped to an unknown destination”.

Wakil said after receiving the call, the Police immediately went to the incident scene where they met Yunus lying in a pull of blood and the body was removed to the Specialist Hospital Bauchi for autopsy where the medical Doctor certified his death.

The Command spokesman said the State Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi has directed the Divisional Police Officer DPO A Division to act immediately and leave no stone unturned bringing the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.

He however urged parents to always monitor the movement of their children and advised them against answering calls from strangers in the name of offering imaginary gifts.
