The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, on Wednesday said that President Muhammed Buhari chose to work from home on Wednesday to allow his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, preside over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting today at the Aso Villa, Abuja.
Dousing apprehension over the absence of the President at the meeting, Mohammed allayed the fears of Nigerians, saying there was no cause to fear. Buhari was absent at today’s meeting, the third time in a month.
According to a statement issued by the minister, he faulted some headlines of the media which reported that, “Buhari to now work from home,” as a misrepresentation of his statement at the briefing.
Quoting his earlier statement that was misinterpreted by a section of media, the minister re-echoed what he had declared: ”He (the President) wanted to rest TODAY and he asked the VP to preside over TODAY’S meeting. In addition, he also asked that all his files be taken home to him and he will be working from home TODAY.”
