Buhari In Jordan, Dubai For Economic Forum, Investment Summit

Barely 48 hours after attending the second term swearing-in ceremony of Senegalese President, Macky Sall in Dakar, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday flew out to Jordan for the World Economic Forum (WEF)
The President is in Amman on the invitation of King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to be part of WEF on the Middle East and North Africa slated for the Dead Sea in Jordan.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said President Buhari will address the opening of the plenary, alongside King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and United Nations (UN) Secretary General, António Guterres.
Adesina explained that the President will also join world economic leaders in an informal gathering at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre.
A statement in Abuja further stated that the Nigerian leader is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with some world leaders on the side-lines of the Forum.
According to the President’s itinerary, he will on Sunday depart Amman for Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to feature in the ninth edition of the Annual Investment Summit holding from Monday, April 8 to Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
Designated as Guest of Honour at the Summit by His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rachid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, President Buhari is will deliver the keynote address on the theme: ‘Mapping the Future of Foreign Direct Investment: Enriching World Economies through Digital Globalization.’
According to the event organisers, the Summit is “the largest gathering of corporate leaders, policymakers, businessmen, regional and international investors, entrepreneurs, leading academics and experts showcasing up-to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting FDI.”
It also seeks to explore investment opportunities in more than 140 countries, connect businesses and countries willing to engage in sustainable partnerships with investors.
On President Buhari’s entourage are the Governors of Jigawa, Kogi and Oyo States, Abubakar Badaru, Yahaya Bello and Abiola Ajimobi.
Also on the presidential delegation are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; National Security Adviser (NSA), and Major-Gen. Mohammed Babagana Monguno (rtd), among other top government functionaries.
