Buhari Re-appoints Orji As NSIA Boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed Mr Uchechi N. Orji as Managing Director of Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

Orji was first appointed in October 2012 for initial five-year tenure, renewable for another term of five years.

A statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said under the leadership of Orji, the NSIA has made remarkable strides, with its assets now standing at over $2 billion.

According to the Presidential Spokesman, the money is already being deployed for investment in Nigerian Infrastructure, Economic Stabilization and Future Generation Funds.

Going by Section 16(2) of the NSIA Act, the National Economic Council (NEC) had in July this year, approved the renewal of Orji’s appointment, citing his first term’s sterling performance.

In another development, the President has also approved the nomination of Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma as the new Director General of the Nigerian Law School (NLS).

Prof Chiroma is expected to take over from Mr Olanrewaju Onadeko, who is due for retirement.

A Professor of Law, and currently the Deputy Director in charge of the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus, Chiroma hails from Adamawa State.
