Call For Governor Ishaku’s Impeachment By Ardo: A Joke Taken Too Far – PDP
BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – Following the call by the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Ambassador Hassn Ardo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday took him to the cleaners as well as dismissed his allegations as wicked and malicious lies, stressing that it was a joke taken too far.
The PDP noted that Ardo, who was the Taraba State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), merely concocted tissues of lies as a member of the opposition that is in disarray as a result of the heavy losses it incurred in the state at the last elections.
Ardo had while calling for the impeachment of Governor Ishaku, accused him of misappropriation of funds, violation of the constitution and incompetence in conducting the affairs of state.
He noted that the continuous use of Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen in the state and award of contracts without execution, even when funds were released as well as the lingering crisis and kidnapping in parts of the state are enough reasons for Ishaku’s impeachment.
However, the PDP at a press conference in Jalingo, which was addressed by its State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari, said that contrary to the allegations, Governor Ishaku remains very transparent and prudent in the management of the state resources.
In stating the position of the PDP, Bakari said the administration of Governor Ishaku has been very transparent and prudent in the management of government resources.
According to him; “In fact, the first thing he did on assumption of office was to block channels of financial leakages which helped in cutting down on waste.”
The PDP spokesman noted that Ishaku was able to revive nine moribund government companies, sank 300 boreholes, employ 3,000 rescue teachers among others.
While describing Ardo’s call for impeachment of Ishaku as a ‘joke taken too far’, Bakari said Governor Ishaku cannot be intimidated with spurious allegations.
In the meantime, some prominent Tarabans have commended Ardo for calling on the state Assembly to checkmate the activities of Governor Ishaku.
One of such persons is Mr. John Adamu, a retired civil servant from Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state, who noted that the call by Ardo was a welcome development.
According to him; “It is unfortunate that Governor Darius Ishaku’s four years is a waste. No projects, no payment of pensions and gratuities.”
He said Ishaku is the worst governor Taraba state ever had, adding that in spite of the huge sums of money coming to the state from the Federation allocation, yet, there is nothing to show for it.
