CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – As international outrage and condemnation continue over weekend’s massacre of over 200 lives in Plateau North District, the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria has called for the arrest and interrogation of the North Central chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, who owned up to masterminding the bestiality and savage act.
It will be recalled that amidst cries, sobbing, wailing, and mourning that followed the gruesome slaughter of innocent souls, including women and children, a happy and fulfilled Danladi Ciroma, who is the North Central chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, callously and unapologetically declared and owned up to the veritable holocaust, claiming that the Fulani had 300 of their cattle rustled by
the natives, and if the 300 cattle are not recovered, Plateau will know no peace.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Yakubu Pam, although the CAN acknowledges the position of the Secretary General of Miyetti Allah in
disowning Danladi Bala and his tragically unfortunate claims, CAN is insisting on the arrest and prosecution of Danladi Ciroma over “his
statement in the awake of attacks and killing of innocent villagers in Gashish district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State to the effect that the killings were because over 300 Fulani cows were allegedly stolen by Berom cow rustlers”.
Reverend Pam in the statement said; “it was wrong for Ciroma to attribute the killings of women and children in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and some other parts of the state by herdsmen to reprisal attack for the
rustling of over 300 cows of the Fulani herders in the affected localities without any proof or evidence”.
Pam however expressed happiness that the national leadership of Miyetti Allah, through its National Secretary, Usman Baba Ngelzerma, has disowned Danladi Ciroma and his claims justifying the killings by the herdsmen in some Plateau villages.
The CAN therefore calls on the security agencies to invite Ciroma for interrogation so as to get useful information that will unravel how the Barkin Ladi massacre was organised and executed, stressing that “nothing can justify the senseless attacks and killing of locals in parts of plateau, Benue, Taraba, and Zamfara states by these merchants of death”.
Reverend Pam also appealled to Governor Simon
Lalong to handle the unfortunate incident of Wednesday at the Government House, Jos, in which a purported peaceful demonstration turned violent with fatherly restraint and caution, as he urged the
governor to dismiss it as part of the ill wind that blew across some parts of the state.
