…Says, It got its Abuja land in 2007
Channels Television on Thursday, May 7, 2026, refuted the claims by Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) concerning land allocation and usage involving the station’s headquarters in Abuja.
Channels Television clarification followed remarks by Wike during his monthly media briefing in which he alleged that Tv station was making financial gains from land allocated to it in the Guzape district of the capital city.
A statement by the management of Channels Television pointedly put a lie to the claim by Wike, stressing that its land property was lawfully allocated to it March 6, 2007, by a former FCT administration for commercial purposes.
In the words of Channels Television, “The property which houses our national headquarters in the Guzape area of Abuja was allocated to Channels Television on March 6, 2007, over 19 years ago, for commercial use.
“All required fees and statutory charges were fully paid at the time of allocation,” it said.

Channels Television stressed that the claim by Wike that is profiting from the land is “not correct and can be verified from official records”.
The media organisation addressed allegations regarding payments made for its coverage of the minister’s media briefing, saying that such arrangements are standard practice within the broadcast industry owing to operational costs.
According to Channels Television; “For live coverage of this nature, stations deploy outside broadcast vans, technical crews and production teams. All fees are transparently disclosed and reflect the cost of delivering live national coverage”.
While reiterating its editorial position, Channels Television stated that its role during the briefing was strictly journalistic, insisting that it will continue to “ask the right questions and avoid any form of deflection in matters of public interest”.
The station assured that it will not back down and remains committed to maintaining the trust it has built over more than three decades, stressing that it is guided by “credibility, ethics of journalism, balance and accountability”.
Channels Television also called for clarity on issues of land allocation within the FCT, emphasising that it is important that such matters are properly explained with full disclosure of beneficiaries and processes involved.
The organisation insisted that its operations are fully compliant with due process, stressing that the records surrounding its Abuja headquarters remain clear and verifiable.
