Nigerian Army unhappy with INEC, Police

BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – The Alumni of Command Secondary School, Jos, Plateau State, have decried the decaying state of facilities and seeming neglect of the institution by the Nigeria Army as its turns 40 years old.

Speaking ahead of the College 40th anniversary celebrations, President of the Alumni Association and Class of 1982 member, Peter Okhai, regretted that the school has suffered infrastructure depletion, and standards even as students’ welfare has dropped to an abysmal scale.

Okhai said the Alumni are determined to restore the School to its old attractions and facilities presence, to ensure it does not just remain a reference point for standards and excellence, but a global competitor and player in the educational sector.

Noting that since inauguration in 1977, the College has turned out high flying professionals making impact nationally and on the international scene, Okhai said the Alumni have resolved to confront the challenges threatening the institution.

According to him, in the spirit of giving back to the institution as well as culture of positive intervention in the college programmes and servicing infrastructure deficit, the Alumni will unveil and hand over the reviewed and reconstructed School gate to the school authority.

He said the different sets of College Alumni have been tasking themselves to rehabilitate weathered infrastructures, just as those making headlines in the sports world have been donating kits to encourage sporting activities in the institution.

The Alumni blamed the decay and falling standards on the Nigerian Army’s authority as proprietor of the school, wondering how the Army’s annual budget for education and educational development is currently being expended.
