COVID-19: NCDC Reports 1,664 New Infections, Tally Now 94,369 Cases
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,664 new infections of coronavirus (COVID-19), thus taking the tally in the country to 94,369 cases.
Reporting on its official Twitter handle late Wednesday, January 6, 2021, the NCDC stated that 1664 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from 23 states of the Federation with Lagos recording the highest figure of 642 cases; FCT – 407; Plateau – 160; Kaduna – 83; and Rivers – 62.
Others include: Adamawa – 47; Nasarawa – 38; Abia – 29; Edo – 28; Anambra – 27; Niger – 24; Ogun – 24; Imo – 15; Oyo – 14; Kano – 12; Osun – 12; Borno – 9; Delta – 7; Enugu – 7; Bauchi – 5; Ekiti – 5; Sokoto – 5; and Jigawa – 2.
The Centre also confirmed that discharges on the day include 388 community recoveries in Lagos State, 261 in Kaduna State, 87 in Plateau State and 20 in Imo State, adding that they cases were all managed in line with existing COVID-19 guidelines.
