In November 2020, the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development bowed to stakeholders’ pressure and reschedule the festival from December 3 – 18 to January 3 – 17, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, following stakeholders’ inputs of being ill-advised to have athletes compete just two days after the New Year celebration, the National Council on Sports (NCS) then settled for February 14 – 28, 2021 that is now being surrounded by uncertainty.
