COVID-19 Update: NCDC Records 389 New Cases, Total Now 8733
- 254 deaths nationwide
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night reported 389 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
The NCDC said on its official Twitter handle that aside the fresh cases confirmed, five (5) deaths were recorded while Kogi becomes the latest state to join the list with one (1) confirmed case in the last 24 hours.
According to other figures captured by the NCDC, as at the 27th of May 2020, over 48,544 samples have been tested nationwide with the total confirmed cases rising to 8,733
Similarly, the Centre said there are 5,978 active cases across the Federation with 2,501 patients treated and discharged from the different isolation centers and accredited hospitals across the country.
On the number of fatalities, the NCDC said 254 deaths have so far been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A breakdown of the 389 new cases reported from 22 states indicated thus: Lagos – (256); Katsina – (23); Edo – (22); Rivers – (14); Kano – (13), Adamawa and Akwa Ibom – (11) cases each.
Others are: Kaduna – Seven (7); Kwara and Nasarawa – Six (6) each; Gombe, Plateau, Abia, Delta, Benue, Niger, Kogi, and Oyo – Two (2) cases each; while Imo, Borno, Ogun, and Anambra reported one (1) case each.
