COVID-19 Update: NCDC Reports 252 New Cases, Tally Reaches 52,800

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country now has 52,800 confirmed corona virus (COVID-19) cases, with 252 new cases recorded late on Tuesday night

A tweet from the Centre’s official website indicate that three deaths were also recorded nationwide in the last 24 hours.

Also, the NCDC said 39,964 patients have so far been successfully treated and discharged, with 1,007 patients unfortunately losing their lives to the deadly virus.

In the NCDC’s highlights, it showed that; “On the 25th of August 2020, 252 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 52800 cases have been confirmed, 39964 cases have been discharged and 1007 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory”

Tuesday’s statistics further showed that Plateau State leap frogged Lagos on the daily infection chart by recording the highest number of infections with 50 cases, followed by Enugu State with 35 cases and Rivers State with 27 cases.

Other states on the chart are: Lagos-26, FCT-18, Kaduna-18, Ekiti-10, Kano-10, Taraba-9, Anambra-8, Edo-8, Oyo-8, Delta-7, Ogun-6, Abia-5, Bayelsa-5, Ebonyi-1, and Osun-1
