COVID-19 Update: NCDC Reports 373 New Cases, Tally Reaches 48,116
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 373 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) late on Thursday night, bringing the nation’s tally of confirmed infection cases to 48,116.
The Centre also said on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov that 10 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the countrywide fatality figure to 966 deaths.
However, in one of the tweets on its official website attributed to @chinwe_ochu on @hitfmcalabar959, the NCDC cautioned that; “The low #COVID19 death rates in Nigeria isn’t a reason for public disbelief, people work hard every day to mitigate the impact of the pandemic”
The tweet further said; “We advice the public to adhere to recommended measures & stay safe”#WearAMask#TakeResponsibility “
For the day’s highlights, the Centre explained that: “On the 13th of August 2020, 373 new confirmed cases and 10 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
“Till date, 48,116 cases have been confirmed, 34,309 cases have been discharged and 966 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
It also stated that the 373 new cases reported from 20 states across the country indicated thus: Lagos – (69), Osun – (41), Kaduna – (40), Oyo – (40), FCT – (35), Plateau – (22), Rivers – (19), Kano- (17) and Ondo – (17),
The daily infection chart of Thursday, August 13, 2020 also include: Ogun – (15), Abia – (14), Gombe – (12), Imo- (9), Enugu – (7), Kwara – (6), Delta – (5), Niger- (2), Borno- (1), Bauchi – (1) and Nasarawa – (1).
