COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Records 409 New Cases, 13,873 In Total
- 382 deaths nationwide
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night reported that with 409 confirmed new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the country’s total figure have now jump to 13,873 cases nationwide.
Though the fatality numbers on the day stood at 17 fresh deaths, taking the tally to 382 in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the NCDC is upbeat that 4,351 cases have been treated and discharged from the various isolation centres.
Further update on the Centre’s statistics showed that since the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria, about 82,935 samples have so far been tested, while 9,086 positive cases are still active from the total of 13,873 confirmed infections.
Offering insight on figures captured on its official Twitter handle, the NCDC said; “On the 10th of June 2020, 409 new confirmed cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
“Till date, 13,873 cases have been confirmed, 4,351 cases have been discharged and 382 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
Of the 409 new cases reported from 16 states across the country, Lagos with 201 cases maintained its epicentre status followed by FCT – (85); Delta – (22); Edo – (16); with Nasarawa, Borno and Kaduna recording (14) cases each.
Others are: Bauchi – (10); Rivers – Nine (9); Enugu and Kano – Five (5) cases each; Ogun and Ondo – Four (4) cases each; while Baylesa, Kebbi and Plateau have Two (2) cases each.
